Mid Year Marketing Review

Mid Year Marketing Review | Shannon Bush Business Coach Perth | Marketing Coach | Small Business Advisor

It’s a new Financial Year in Australia starting this coming Monday, July 1st!

In my Facebook Group for women in business (join the Thriving Entrepreneur Circle here) it is #MarketingTuesday, so an ideal day to remind everyone to do a checkin so that’s exactly what I shared today – my top 10 questions to ask to complete a mid year marketing review.

In fact the questions are great at any review milestone – monthly, quarterly, half yearly, annually.

Let’s get back to the fact it is the end of the current Financial Year at the end of the week. That makes it a great time to review your marketing foundations. At mid calendar year you can actually gain a lot of insight into things from two key perspectives. How is your marketing tracking for the financial year and how is it tracking for the calendar year?

Why is it good to do a mid year checkin?

Well simplest answer to that awesome question is the mid year review can reveal fabulous data that can help you make decisions with regards to what to invest your time, money and energy into marketing for the second half of the year.

It can also give you a benchmark in terms of performance against any goals set at the beginning of the calendar year.

So how do you do a review?

Here’s the top 10 questions I’d ask – not necessarily in any particular order

1. Are my products/services still relevant? If not what can I stop selling or delivering?
2. What is my turnover and profit for each product/service I sold so far this calendar year/financial year?
3. Am I actively promoting all of my products/services?
4. Is my branding up to date and consistent across all my marketing?
5. Which marketing strategies have worked for me this year/FY?
6. If I don’t know the answer to question 5, what measures can I put in place to know moving forward?
7. Are my ideal clients/customers still ideal? If no then what changes need to be made to connect with the right ones for what I’m selling?
8. Have I defined benefits for what I sell and are they included in my marketing?
9. Have I actively collected testimonials and if so what do they say?
10. Have I reviewed my core marketing collateral for consistency? Website, print media, social media, linked in, videos etc

Once you’ve answered these questions I’d create a SSC list

What will I STOP doing?
What will I START doing?
What will I CONTINUE doing?

Then create a set of specific, measurable goals with timelines related to your start and continue actions!

Marketing review done!

Effortless even.

The Thrive Factor Book Launch is happening soon!

The Thrive Factor Book Cover | Shannon Bush | Creative Possibility | Business Women | Archetypes for women

Super excited to let you know about something very cool that is happening very soon. In fact in the next week or two…

My new book is launching!

After what seems like forever, this book is finally coming to life and the date my team and I are working towards is a Kindle launch for end of January 2019 swiftly followed by the launch of the paperback version.

The best way to be the first to hear how you can get your copy is to register your interest at We will send an email out as soon as we have more information, which should be very soon.

What’s the book about?  Well if you have followed me for any length of time you will know about the archetypal personal leadership framework I created in 2010 and 2011. It was featured in my Amazon best selling book in 2013, Personal Leadership Style.

Back then I was working with the archetypes with my female clients and focusing on their personal attributes, strengths and challenges. However I was nearly solely working with women in business and so began to map the things I was seeing repeated for each archetype in relation to mindset, marketing, money and magnetism. The information was consistently well received when I shared it with clients and participants in programs like Market To Thrive.

So in 2017 I began taking the dream of writing a new book and started to put the words together. It’s been a mamoth task that has involved many people and it is now so close to being no longer a dream, but a reality.

Over the last couple of years my fascination with thriving has also evolved and deepened/ It seemed only right to me to review what the framework was previously christened. So the archetypes are now referred to as the Thrive Factor Archetypes and this new book is all about you, as a business woman, getting to know yourself, unlocking your effortless success zone and totally thriving.

Cannot wait to hear what you think about it when you get to read it.

For now, though, head to and register your interest.

Let’s get excited about thriving! Totally thriving!

Notable Quotes & Pearls Of Wisdom

“When you believe in what you’re selling it’s completely different. You’re not selling, you’re helping.”

“It’s a marathon, not a sprint. If you’re not in this for the long run, forget it. There’s no shortcut, it takes time for people to know you before they buy from you.”

“If you put yourself last, you will burn out and your business will fail.”

LOE 051 – Market Like You Mean It w/ Sarah Thomson

Shannon Bush + Sarah Thomson | Effortless Business Events | Market Like You Mean It | Marketing Coach Business Coaching | Live Event Perth

Welcome to episode 051 of Law of Effortlessness featuring Sarah Thomson from Online Social Butterfly. Sarah Thomson established Online Social Butterfly in 2011 and offers dynamic online marketing expertise to business owners. Her most popular topics include marketing in the digital age, social media, and websites.

Sarah brings with her a 15-year background in corporate marketing, spanning multi-nationals, government, not-for-profit and the small business sector in both Sydney and the UK. Her enthusiasm for the industry is currently propelling her through a Master’s degree in Web Communications.

She also finds time to run a taxi service for her sons, who are both competitive swimmers.

Listen in as Sarah talks about what it’s like to run a business with her husband Grant – how their business evolved from before Instagram and Facebook Ads existed, working to their strengths, how it’s taken time to learn how they work best as a team and get the best performance out of each other.

Shannon and Sarah also discuss their complimentary marketing services and perspectives – and asking the big question: is Facebook dead? What’s happening with zero reach and putting money into an advertising budget?

Sarah also speaks to an experiment she conducted with Facebook and videos – using a Live video, versus a pre-recorded video versus a link shared from YouTube and the interesting results she found, and how you can use her experiment to get the most out of your video content. Sarah also talks to the fears behind why entrepreneurs frequently decide not to use video, and how she overcame the mindset hurdle – and the ease and flow that comes after the leap.

Shannon and Sarah also talk about collaborations – how they’ve collaborated together, the lessons they have learned, including if you’re an aligned match, and working in your places of strength.

Shannon and Sarah also share how they have collaborated over the last four years, and most recently for Effortless Business Events. They also share how they made their collaboration one of ease and effortlessness by outsourcing tasks, sharing the workload, being open and upfront with figures, and much more
