Mid Year Marketing Review

Mid Year Marketing Review | Shannon Bush Business Coach Perth | Marketing Coach | Small Business Advisor

It’s a new Financial Year in Australia starting this coming Monday, July 1st!

In my Facebook Group for women in business (join the Thriving Entrepreneur Circle here) it is #MarketingTuesday, so an ideal day to remind everyone to do a checkin so that’s exactly what I shared today – my top 10 questions to ask to complete a mid year marketing review.

In fact the questions are great at any review milestone – monthly, quarterly, half yearly, annually.

Let’s get back to the fact it is the end of the current Financial Year at the end of the week. That makes it a great time to review your marketing foundations. At mid calendar year you can actually gain a lot of insight into things from two key perspectives. How is your marketing tracking for the financial year and how is it tracking for the calendar year?

Why is it good to do a mid year checkin?

Well simplest answer to that awesome question is the mid year review can reveal fabulous data that can help you make decisions with regards to what to invest your time, money and energy into marketing for the second half of the year.

It can also give you a benchmark in terms of performance against any goals set at the beginning of the calendar year.

So how do you do a review?

Here’s the top 10 questions I’d ask – not necessarily in any particular order

1. Are my products/services still relevant? If not what can I stop selling or delivering?
2. What is my turnover and profit for each product/service I sold so far this calendar year/financial year?
3. Am I actively promoting all of my products/services?
4. Is my branding up to date and consistent across all my marketing?
5. Which marketing strategies have worked for me this year/FY?
6. If I don’t know the answer to question 5, what measures can I put in place to know moving forward?
7. Are my ideal clients/customers still ideal? If no then what changes need to be made to connect with the right ones for what I’m selling?
8. Have I defined benefits for what I sell and are they included in my marketing?
9. Have I actively collected testimonials and if so what do they say?
10. Have I reviewed my core marketing collateral for consistency? Website, print media, social media, linked in, videos etc

Once you’ve answered these questions I’d create a SSC list

What will I STOP doing?
What will I START doing?
What will I CONTINUE doing?

Then create a set of specific, measurable goals with timelines related to your start and continue actions!

Easy.

Marketing review done!

Effortless even.

Thrive Factor School – A Letter and an Invitation

Thrive Factor School | Archetype Profiling Training | Certification Program | Business Women | Coaching Training | Personality Profile Training

Is it time to add a new dimension to your business?
A letter from me to you...

Dearest wise one

Thank you for taking the time to read as I share with you some of what I’ve been dreaming about – something that comes to life as Thrive Factor School. Before I do that I need to let you know I have been waiting patiently for years to be able to share this with you. I have dreamed about you so often and spent countless hours imagining what the future will hold with you, out there in the world, sharing the Thrive Factor with other women like yourself.

I know you’re a fiercely determined woman with a big heart. You have a huge desire to be a vehicle for change in the world. These are some of the many reasons you started your business – to make changes and to do so with heart.

Perhaps your vision was to change your life or those of your clients.
Perhaps it was to change your community, your country or even the world at large.

The size and reach of your desire is not what matters to me. How big or bold your dreams are do not matter. Your commitment to bringing your dreams to life and to be the change you desire to be is what matters. It is no small thing to change someones life or business for the better, but that is what you already do. And you’re ready for more.

Here is a little more I know about youyou know a lot – you are a smart, capable individual and you love to learn and share what you know

>> you’re optimistic and realistic all at the same time

>> you see the good in other people and you love it when they see what is possible too

>> you are generous and kind – because you care about people

>> you are a delightful person to be around and even on your grumpy days others value your integrity and genuine approach, plus all that wisdom you’ve got in spades

>> you are also loved for the willingness you have to champion the people you believe in

>> you adore your business and even on the toughest of days you couldn’t imagine throwing it all in because the alternative isn’t worth considering

>> you have an existing engaged community of loyal people who value you and find inspiration and motivation in the way you show up and deliver ALL of you in your work

In fact there are so many glorious things to say about you, but because you’re so humble and not one to tall poppy yourself, you’d rather focus on sharing the limelight with others.

So if you are leading a business currently and looking to add something new to your work, then you can grab a copy of the student prospectus for Thrive Factor School below. Once you have it you’ll receive all you need to evaluate this opportunity and to secure an application interview during the application window from now until 10th May only.

Each has shared in their application form (yes, there’s an extensive but easy to complete form to book your interview!) their beautiful and inspired visions for weaving Thrive Factor profiling into their businesses. I’m not one to cry that often but some of what I’ve read has led to a few happy tears, particularly as I’ve read about their personal transformations and positive differences to their lives and businesses for knowing their Thrive Factor archetypes. My favourites have been along the lines of “knowing this information has changed my life and business for the better and I cannot wait to share this gift with other women.”

You Thriving Is My Agenda

Shannon Bush Creative Possibility | The Thrive Factor Book | Business Archetypes for women

With the recent release of my new book The Thrive Factor, writing has been something I have been doing a lot of lately. A couple of weeks back I felt compelled to share something I felt totally needed sharing. I did so in my awesome Facebook group for women in business, The Thriving Entrepreneur Circle. > you can join here if you like and read the post!

Well what I shared rang true for a lot of the Thrivers in the group and i also had a bit of a realisation. I haven’t been sharing much written work here on my blog so I am planning to do more of that moving forward. I have loads to say. Loads to share and what better place to do so in the written word that right here hey?

So between the numerous podcast episodes and sharing of the amazing business women in my community, you’ll find more mindset, money, marketing and magnetism focused articles from me.

And as I embark on a new manuscript (already underway) I’ll share how that is progressing and what it’s all about.

Stay tuned. For now, I hope what you read below inspires you to get out of your own darn way and get on with thriving.

Creative Possibility Arrow Heart 1

You Thriving Is My Agenda...
It always has been!

You know what… when you get out of your own darn way and simply allow yourself to be MORE of who you are incredible things happen

when I first began pulling the pieces of the puzzle together to create what is now known as The Thrive Factor archetypal profiling framework in 2010 I had a very clear vision of my intention

I was determined to change women’s lives for the better

I wanted you to have more confidence
I wanted you to have more joy
I wanted you to know your purpose and to express it without needing permission from anyone
I wanted you to be more creative
To be more connected
I wanted you to love who you are
I wanted more curiousity, play and acceptance for you
I wanted you to connect with your innate potential and show it to the world
I wanted you to celebrate more
I wanted you to celebrate YOU more
I wanted you to know your effortless success zone and to choose to be in that space as much as you wanted and needed to
I wanted the world for you, and the stars and every cosmos beyond
I wanted friendship and connection for you
I wanted you to totally thrive

What do I want for you (and every woman in business – in fact on this planet) now?

All of the above personified. I want all of that for you but on a much bigger, bolder scale.

How can you create this and more for yourself?

Get out of your own darn way.

Choose effortlessness.

Choose to totally thrive.

Choose to discover your Thrive Factor

You do not need anyone’s permission
Make the commitment and make it happen

Big love

Networking As A Marketing Strategy

#marketing101 networking as a marketing strategy | Shannon Bush Creative Possibility Business Coach

Networking as a marketing strategy? You bet!

Networking is, for many in business, a necessary evil.

I get it. When I started my business in 2007 I had only ever networked in a corporate setting. I learned quite early on that networking was a thing small business owners did often and through a desire to meet other entrepeneirual types I set about looking for great groups to connect with.

It was easy to find local groups where I could go and do the meet and greet thing. Some were at breakfast, some mid morning, others at lunch or the “sundowner” evening events. It seemed there was a smorgasboard of choice. But how did you know wether what you were paying to attend, would be of value or not?

I figured if I didn’t get out and try some of these events then I’d never know.

So I showed up and did my best to mingle with bunches of strangers. I found at some events the reception was a little frosty. At others it felt clicky. While others seemed to be a free for all, with no organisation and pushy attendees.

I didn’t like the experience much at all. Online business was growing in interest at the time and platforms like Facebook had become an opportunity to connect with other business owners. But online networking wasn’t that much of a thing and if you got a friend request from someone you vaguely connected with online it felt a bit, well, creepy.

I discovered quickly that when you found yourself at the wrong types of networking events they could totally feel like the most alien places you’ve ever found yourself. Totally setting of daydreamng and escape routes. Well that’s what was happening in my head.

Over the next decade I came to understand the power of the right networking, with the right people, and how to turn those awkward moments into potential opportunities – for new clients, new referral partners, speaking or teaching opportunities, brand exposure, credibility building and more.

The wrong kind of networking event can leave you feeling stuck, with no escape!
Forget having a well polished elevator pitch, you need an escape strategy STAT!

Networking as a Marketing Strategy | Creative Possibility | Shannon Bush Business Marketing Coach Perth Australia

How did I achieve this? Well it all started with a big realisation about the core of marketing.

Marketing is all about relationships.

Once I wrapped my head around this I was able to approach networking very differently. My primary purpose of networking now is to build awesome relationships.

Networking as a marketing strategy has become the way I do things. It’s an unconscious activity with conscious, purposeful intent.

This includes a desire and intent to expand my contacts. To literally grow my network.

I see this as an ultimate win for my clients because I can refer them to the brilliant people I meet and get to know!

This value add also has proven to lead to more clients for me, so one of those win/win situations bandied about.

They exist. I created one in my business.

I created one out of an activity I used to dread.

Relationship building means getting out and meeting people. It means being the person who says hello first and who shows genuine curiosity to find out about the person or group you’re talking to. It’s remembering that if you don’t ask it’s always no. It’s also about nurturing and valuing your network so they, and your networking activity become the asset they deserve to be.

This is how I’ve built my business from it’s early days and it is definitely how I have managed to still be here more than a decade in.

Look out for a future solo show on my podcast, Law Of Effortlessness, where I share my top tips for creating and nurturing your referral network, a super key part of maximising the potential of your networking as a marketing strategy!

“Believe in your actions and what you do.”

“If we don’t ask the answer is always no. If we do ask the question the answer might be no, it might be not right now, but that doesn’t mean it’s a no forever or it might be a resounding yes I’d love to work with you and when can we get started?”
