Limits: Real or Imagined?

Ultimate Blog Challenge Post 10

Yesterday I asked you to help me to answer a question I am fascinated in at the moment (well to be honest it’s fascinated me for some time) and that was to define what it means to live a limitless life.  I look forward to sharing all the responses with you in the near future but in the meantime I got to thinking about the opposite of being and experiencing limitless.  That is a life filled with or bound by limits; a life in the box perhaps?

In particular I began thinking about whether the limits that we can experience are real or imagined.  These thoughts came after a great conversation I recorded with my friend Jennifer Lee, founder of Artizen Coaching and award winning author or The Right-Brain Business Plan

During our chat which will air in the next couple of weeks on Creative Possibility – The Limitless Life on Web Talk Radio, Jenn and I talked about many things that would be limits as examples of the things that get in the way of us living an empowered, confident, more joyous and abundant life

Where do these limits we experience come from?  Are they real or imagined?

How often have you got yourself in such a mess that you just can’t seem to find a way out.  What sort of limit does this place on you and what impact does that have?  Most importantly how does it make you feel?

When it comes to busting through limits one of the first things I like to do is challenge whatever it is that I see as a limit.  I take the approach that it’s not real until proven and most of the time I end up deciding that what I got myself so bound up by isn’t really that real or that big of a deal after all.  I’ve become entangled in the emotion and perception or belief that it’s real and when that happens it’s time to challenge it big-time!

Here’s a quick exercise to help you to see things from a different perspective

Innovation Challenge 2: What Is Your Big WHY?

imageWhen was the last time that you thought about why you do what you do? Whether you are a woman in business, have a job working for someone else or are a woman exploring and playing with her creative side you have a WHY behind everything you do

If I were to ask you now why you do what it is you do what would your answer be? Do you know why you strive to achieve the goals you set? Why you focus on and take action to move yourself toward greater happiness, more personal freedom, abundant prosperity? There is a reason and that reason, the big WHY is an important one for you to be really clear on if you are going to reach the outcomes you seek for your life (and business)
When it comes to finding motivation, achieving outcomes, having purpose, being a creative woman with direction and conviction there is one little thing you need to be really clear on

It’s the WHY!

Without clarity on the why it’s likely you’ll feel confused, dicouraged, frustrated and totally overwhelmed. You might even find yourself going around in circles chasing your tail trying to get things done, never being sure what it is you should really invest yoour valuable time doing

Innovation Challenge 1: Defining Your Vision

visionDo you have a clear description of what your vision for your life is? If so when did you last review it and check in to see it is still aligned to your current ‘vision’? If not then why not?

To kick start the month long Innovation Challenge I invite you to get creative by defining your vision. Now you can go ahead and create a vision board or vision book if you like. I personally love them and am so behind the power of images but I also believe that you need to add words to those images to give them a powerful boost

So I’d like you to either get out your written or picture version of your vision for your future and see what’s relevant and then bring it up to date. Make it more exciting, more inviting, more energizing any way you like. Remember we are all about innovation this month and a big part of being innovative is seeing things differently, opening your mind and your eyes wider and letting the magic of Creative Possibility flow to you freely and easily

Go on, get defining! Here’s an awesome reflection question a friend shared with me recently that might just help the process…

“It is now the day of your 85th birthday and you are about to celebrate with a great big party with people coming from all over the place to honor and celebrate your life. Who would be there and what would they have to share about you? your accomplishments, what sort of person you are, how you have inspired them?”

Define, using as much detail as possible what that looks, feels and sounds like. Then you will have a clearly defined vision. Dare to be amazing!

I’d love you to share what you create so please let us know more about your vision by adding a comment below

Wishing you succulent, effortless success,
